- World’s highest railway bridge is coming up over the Chenab in J&K. In around two years from now, the Chenab river in Jammu and Kashmir will be spanned by the world’s highest railway bridge that is expected to be 35 metres taller than the Eiffel Tower.
- Paddler Soumyajit Ghosh Bags Singles, Doubles at Chile Open. Soumyajit Ghosh has bagged both the singles and doubles gold at the Seamaster 2017 ITTF Challenge Chile Open in Santiago.
- India drop to No. 4 in ICC T20 rankings. India have dropped two places to slip to fourth position in the ICC Twenty20 International team rankings following the annual update on May 1.
- Prime Minister inaugurates Patanjali Research Institute in Haridwar. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurates Patanjali Research Institute in Haridwar, Uttarakhand.The institute is established with an aim to globally establish the Vedic knowledge of Ayurveda of Ancient Indian Saints.
- Madhya Pradesh First State to Shift Financial Year to Jan-Dec Format. Madhya Pradesh has become the first state in the country to shift its financial year from the present April-March cycle to January-December. The shift is the outcome of NITI Aayog governing council meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Such a shift will help in better economic and political management of India.
- Vijayawada Airport becomes International Airport. The Union Cabinet has granted international airport status for the Vijayawada Airport.The approval was given as per provisions of Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014.
- China to Launch its Own Encyclopaedia as a Rival to Wikipedia. China plans to launch its own online encyclopaedia next year rivalling Wikipedia and Britain’s Encyclopaedia Britannica.The main objective of this project is to guide public thought. China fears that its citizens who use Wikipedia are being corrupted by foreign influences.
- Chinese scientists build world’s first quantum computing machine. China has beaten the world at building the first ever quantum computing machine that is 24,000 times faster than its international counterparts.
